Dozer   11 #1 Posted April 22, 2017 We're going to Bath on the Saturday morning of the Bank Holiday.  If we leave around 10 in the morning, will we run into a lot of traffic -- would it better to take the train?  Any suggestions for what to do in Bath? Any good restaurants? Any good walks (3-6 miles ideal for us) -- could either be in Bath or as a stop on the way?
 Share this content via...
Longcol   577 #2 Posted April 22, 2017 I think you'll be behind the bulk of the traffic going down to the west country at that time - I'd reckon a 3 and a half hour / 4 hour drive.
 Share this content via...
willman   10 #3 Posted April 22, 2017 I do Bath on a non Bank Holiday day and its 3.5/4 hours if its running smoothly.  Can't help with things to do i'm afraid as I usually end up out towards Devizes.
 Share this content via...
Guest busdriver1 Â Â #4 Posted April 22, 2017 Plenty to see and do in Bath, if its walking you want, try one of the walking tours, much more informative than the open top bus tours and you get to see stuff properly. Â Plenty to choose from here
 Share this content via...

Anna B Â Â 1,364 #7 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Yes I'd probably go for the walking tour as well, very interesting and informative. (And one of them is very funny but I can't remember what it's called, sorry) Â I'd also make a point of going to the Roman Baths - absolutely amazing. If you want to actually go in the heated spring water (you can't at the Roman Baths,) there's an outdoor spa bath called the Thermae Bath Spa, nearby in the town centre. Jacktari   10 #8 Posted April 23, 2017 http://avonrigsoutcrop.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/the-hot-well-bristol.html  I saw this on the TV a while ago.  Apparently it takes 10,000 years for the rainfall on the hills to resurge as the hot water, due to its passage through the volcanic strata.
