This half day course in Canine First Aid has been developed for owners and those who are responsible for the care of dogs.

 


Who should attend?


 

This course will be of interest to owners, groomers, sitters, walkers and anyone working with dogs. This course is open to anyone over 14 years old although under 16s will need to be accompanied by an adult (family member, guardian or written family consent).

 

What you will learn


 

The course focuses on how to deal with a range of First Aid incidents and care involving dogs, with the aim to provide delegates with a sound knowledge and understanding of Canine First Aid procedures.

· Pet proofing your home

 

· How pets show pain

 

· Checking your pet's health

 

Dog Accidents and First Aid

 

· Breathing and respiratory problems including choking

 

· Dog CPR

 

· Drowning

 

· Shock

 

· Broken Bones

 

· Spinal injury and moving an injured pet

 

Tending to your dog

 

· Controlling Bleeding

 

· Dressings and Bandages

 

· Paw Problems

 

· Ears, Eyes, and Mouth

 

· Bandaging the Ear

 

· Bandaging the Tail

 

· Illnesses

 

· Poisoning, Bites, and Stings

 

· Burns and temperature related problems

 

· Seizures and Epilepsy

 

· Different types and sizes of animals

 

· The older dog

 

· Small dog care

 

· Puppies

Course Duration


 

The course is held over half a day totalling 3hrs including a coffee break however, we can tailor courses to meet your specific needs. The course is normally held at Bridge Safety and Training premises although, if required we can deliver the course at the client’s premises specifically for their employees.

 

Certification


 

Upon completion of the course, delegates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.
