LJB23   10 #1 Posted May 3, 2017 Hi  Hoping someone can help.  I've bought a copy of this internet security, however when I have come to install it on my HP laptop, it says it cant be done due to a version of Windows 10, even though on the back of the pack it states that its compatible? I have tried to live chat to McAfee but no one is responding.  Thanks
 Share this content via...
apelike   10 #2 Posted May 3, 2017 Have you recently updated it to the Creators Edition?
 Share this content via...
LJB23 Â Â 10 #3 Posted May 3, 2017 Not that I know. To be honest I haven't used the laptop in about 3 months. I'm giving it to my daughter to use but the security had run out. It does do automatic updates now and then?
 Share this content via...
apelike   10 #4 Posted May 3, 2017 Did you have McAfee on it before?  If you did then it may be better to uninstall it and in the meantime use a free antivirus such as Avast. McAfee have online support so you could register and see if there are any updates or patches for your version.  https://service.mcafee.com/webcenter/portal/cp/home/mvt?centerWidth=100%25&leftWidth=0%25&rightWidth=0%25&showFooter=false&showHeader=false&_adf.ctrl-state=74ttj8fnh_49&_afrLoop=1206421196087192#! swarfendor437   14 #6 Posted May 6, 2017 (edited) I'd claim a refund - you can normally do this within a set time period - I had to do this with a problem with F-Secure. I only recommend Comodo Internet Security Free edition, but if you need a screen reader such as nvda or JAWS then Comodo is not the one to use but Microsoft Security Essentials.  Interesting reads here:  http://www.computerworld.com/article/3149714/security/john-mcafee-asks-court-to-block-intels-security-spinoff.html  http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/john-mcafee-mcafee-antivirus-one-worst-products-planet-1516462 Edited May 6, 2017 by swarfendor43
 Share this content via...
Jim Hardie   527 #7 Posted May 6, 2017 I had McAfee at one time. All was well until I somehow picked up a Trojan or something similar. It took the form of porno sites, adverts for viagra, all stuff designed to embarrass popping up together with an invitation to pay a ransom to get rid of it. McAfee wanted an extra £60 before they would even take a look. I declined and after a few days the junk went away on its own. I didn't bother renewing.
