I looked on Twitter and their page is terrible - just full of swearing and Facebook links - no information on there.

Yes it has closed, he has retired I believe.

It had been open since the 70's the dining scene of Sheffield has changed somewhat since then. I remember the 80's before we even had Mcdonalds that your choice for 'American' was Yankees or Sams.

You can now get great burgers at so many places that going for a burger is no longer a thing I guess. I couldn't even list the amount of places!

Shame to see it go, the poster at the bottom of the stairs amused many a teenage Sheffield boy......

Yes, it's gone.

Always preferred Uncle Sam's personally, right back to Ron Barton's days.

First place I ever heard any of Waylon Jennings tracks..great stuff.

Uncle Sams was the one with the train.

James is correct when they and Uncle Sams opened they were a novelty American Diners just weren't around like they are now.

You then had the "American diner bars" like the Woodstock,Henrys,Champs and Hanarahans which were all hugely popular... for a while and the place to be seen often frequented by the footballers of the day.

Last time I went to Uncle Sams the food was ok as was the atmosphere but nothing to rave about.
