Where to look for adult apprenticeships/trainee positions?

Recommended Posts

dt25uk dropped you a PM.

You watch the news or read the press about how people, young and old, are desperate for jobs but just in the last 12 months we have not had any applicants from Sheffield or SY; Europe and beyond we are inundated with CV's.

We were desperate for young energetic, enthusiastic people to get trained in sales, marketing or software development for full time positions but not a single local applicant.

The joys of recruiting in the Sheffield area.... clearly full employment.

The universities are no better before anyone goes down that route. Graduates full of debt with no commercials skill wanting to start on £30K+ to clear their debts. Whatever happen to starting at the bottom and working your way up the ladder??

Hello again

I was trying to help you regarding young people as I have worked in the training sector and apprenticeships for many many years and I can tell that your have had poor experience and possibly poor service too, not matched with a suitable candidate has also not helped your situation. Whereas I know for sure there are some real gems out there looking for their first opportunity. I can recommend 3aaa Training Provider for delivery of IT Level 3 and level 4. they have just achieved an Outstanding Ofsted inspection across all areas inspected the only TP in the UK to achieve this grade at the first time of inspection. They match the applicant to the business and DO put your needs first. Sorry SCC has not come up with anything either for you. The other alternative then is to contact the National Apprenticeship Service directly. They will contact only 'preferred' training providers on your behalf for Customer Service and Sales and Marketing. I have worked in training for the past 20yrs and ironically am currently unemployed and am looking at changing career direction entirely such are the demands of this sector at the present time. I wish you the best. I have also advised the person who has just asked to chat with you, he/she seems a good sort too!

Does anyone possibly know of any websites that list these opportunities local in real time?

Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine (Gary Briscoe of Independent Training Services Ltd in Barnsley) has posted this on LinkedIn today. I've checked with him and it's not age limited.

"Are you currently employed and wanting to get qualified to progress in your chosen line of work? If you work in care, hospitality, catering, business administration, sales, customer service, retail or accountancy we can help. Many people are unaware that they can gain an apprenticeship while working, and gain the full support of sector specialists with a reputable training provider along the way. Our apprenticeships are accessible to all so the desire to progress within your company and gain valuable skills and knowledge may not be as unreachable as you first imagined. Call 01226329047"
