TSOTA Sheffield Editor (voluntary role)

Recommended Posts

The State of the Arts is an arts, culture, and politics website publishing features, reviews, and interviews from cities around the UK. We are a voluntary organisation established to cover local arts scenes and issues that otherwise would not get the exposure they deserve.

We now have teams in Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, and Sheffield, and are in search of a new Sheffield Editor. The role involves commissioning pieces about the most unique and interesting projects and events in Sheffield, subediting submissions, and uploading them using WordPress, and will take up around 10 hours a week.

The position is open to anyone. If you think you could perform the role we'd love to hear from you. Experience of editing and writing would obviously help, but a feel for language and a good knowledge of the various arts scenes and issues in Sheffield are more important.

If you're interested, e-mail christy@thestateofthearts.co.uk with some or all of the following:

1. Two or three suggestions for a feature piece on a cultural or political issue, a particular artistic or cultural scene, or an upcoming live event you think we should cover.

2. Samples of your written work (published or otherwise).

3. A brief description of your interests and any relevant experience (but don’t worry if you don’t have any).

We’re also always on the look out for new contributors. If you’re not interested in joining the editorial team but would like to write for the site, send an e-mail to the same address but include only a brief description of any particular areas of interest (music, theatre, etc) and we’ll pass your contact details on to whoever we appoint as Sheffield Editor.

You can check out the site at @TSOTArts and facebook.com/thestateofthearts. We look forward to hearing from you!
