I'd say their success is more down to the publicity machine surrounding them, rather than any innate talent either may have.
If you examined each individual human being on this planet, for charm or ability as a performance artist, you would find many many more who exceed Princess Diana and Mr Jackson in the charm and ability department (yet you don't hear of them, and they're not successful, because they don't have the publicity machine or nurturing and support required for success).
Here's to the genius in the ordinary man and woman..
I can't believe no one has actually pointed out that Yes, you can indeed compare the deaths of MJ and Di.
ITN did it ages ago and was noted by Charlie Brooker in an episode of his comedy style quiz called "You have been watching"
If you've not seen this before, you really need to (this actual video is someone cam-cording their tele mainly because ITN have big mean lawyers who scour youtube on a regular basis trying to delete any footage of their incredble reporting skills)
They are compleatly different. Princess Dianna was very pretty, but she couldn't sing or dance like Michale Jackson, he was a great musical artist and dancer.
He was a rubbish dancer. Same tired old moves for 30 years.
Let's not forget Mother Theresa, who's death was overshadowed by Diana's, occurring as it did a few days later.
Now I'm pretty sure Mother Theresa did not have a string of extra-marital affairs or produce an illegitimate offspring (c'mon, just look at Harry and James Hewitt), but of course, decades of working amongst the very poor in India doesn't compare to "Saint" Diana, with her life of luxury apartments, big houses, plush cars to take her everywhere she went, plus plenty of adulterous sex. I mean, come on, Diana really suffered.
One of them had a name very similar to the princess of wales and the other was spidermans girlfriend, I really don't see how a comparrison between them can be drawn on such little information.

Mother Theresa did a lot of good for the tea towel industry though

(RIP)
I would not personally compare them both. Generally speaking the only comparison I would make is the hounding they got from the media & that they both shared a common ground = world peace & to spread love but they were two very different personalities & in thier own leagues.
What I don't like is how Michael Jackson (RIP) himself & his people around him including the deluded Uri Gellar compared him to Jesus! Being the good friend Mr Gellar is he decided to sell his story on his "friendship" with MJ (because thats what friends do ) to ITV banging on about what good friends they were though MJ ended their friendship because of the Bashir programme. There was footage shown of MJ in England when he is being mobbed by fans, Uri & some beefcake wannabe bodyguards who were making an awful attempt to protect him start shouting at the fans to back away & from the top of his voice, Uri Gellar who thinks he is some form of God () starts saying to the fans to step away from MJ because he is a prophet & to treat him like one & then made some comparison about him & Jesus. How alike they were/are. Uri actually believed MJ had healing powers to cure the sick like Jesus did.
I recall a newspaper showing pictures of his house in NeverLand when the FBI raided it & they had pictures of his then bedroom & just above his then bed was a portrait of him sat in Jesus's place on the last supper. So sad indeed.
I know sometimes I like to go away with the fairies with my imagination but even I would not believe that or make that comparison if someone compared me with Jesus likey personality...I would think they are friggin banana's.
Unfortunately, I think he was with people who were not good for him at all & it shows by the amount of his so called chums who have sold their souls to the media about his personal life. Don't even get me started on Mark Lester

Good post but aren't people always saying 'to be like Jesus' so if someone tries to be like Jesus, why does he get lambasted for it?

I would say a more accurate comparison for Lady Dianna would be Gareth Southgate; after all both are most famous for hitting the post.

Because there is a difference between trying to be like someone & actually believing you are that person. Where is the reality of it & the fiction of it?
Please don't get me wrong Lestat, I was a (still am) massive fan of RIP MJ so much so I used to believe he was my brother from a different mother when I was younger but thats a different story However I do think he was misguided personally & professonally by people who claimed to be his friends & they put him of this pedal stool & made him believe & think he was a modern day Jesus of some type that could sure the sick & to (public) treat him like a prophet.
