It was the highlight of the week, that and going to silver blades ice rink. I was always allowed to be out late on a Tuesday and catch the last bus home (11.15 pm). Those were the days - good memories!
 Share this content via...

shelby46 Â Â 10 #8 Posted May 30, 2007 I remember it well - I loved it. I thought I looked so good in my crombie, Ben Sherman shirt, stayprest trousers, and Dockers! Shame on me. I wonder why females used to often dress like fellas then? It was a great era - I sound like my mum now
 Share this content via...
steamrollus   10 #9 Posted June 1, 2007 Early seventies, went in the Mulberry prior to going to TR, in walked two punks wearing dog collars and tied together by dog leads. Big Mick lee, behind the bar, says to first one you can stay but you mates got to go. Tug of war ensues. Hystrerical.  Happy days. rodfretwell   10 #11 Posted July 25, 2008 I worked initially as a part time DJ at the Top Rank in 1969 with Bob Dean and the Maurice Naylor Sound. I started working the 'kid' sessions - on Saturday Morning 10-12 noonwe would get about 1200 kids attending, Saturday afternoon 2.00 til 4.00pm we had to compete with the owls or blades matches so attendances were down to about 500 and Tuesday night 7 til 11 for the under 16's we got over 1500 young people in.I went on to work full time (Steve Juste) it was manic but extremely enjoyable. Has anybody out there got any more memories of the Top Rank in the late 60's /early 70's
 Share this content via...
