Velux roof windows?

Recommended Posts

Am thinking of haven get one or two of these fitted and have 2 questions

First would I be better if having these fitted before or after having a new roof putting on and second can this be fitted working out of a loft or would I have to go on roof itself to fit them thanks

Jeff is right, You can fit them before or after a re-roof. Although fitting them while the re-roof is been done is the easiest by far.

If you do decide to fit them before or after a re-roof all the work can be done from the inside the loft.

If you're doing it that way you are obviously best (and with Velux Brand you have to) to take the glass out. However Keylite are designed to be fitted as 1 unit, the brackets just flip up.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Mike

you can do them both ways ta jeff

Jeff do you have to cut roof joists to fit these type of Windows ? Or does it depend on size of what your fitting ?

Unless your fitting the very narrow ones you'll need to cut the roof timbers.

Don't forget you will need building control sign off not only for the re roof but also for the velux window installation.

You need to double up the roof timbers either side of the new Windows also.
