Update on Samson the one eyed Staffy

Recommended Posts

I'm sure lots of people on here remember Samson the one eyed Staffy. Well, luckily, he found himself a lovely new home where he's settled in perfectly and is really happy. His new owners have sent in these lovely pictures of him along with an update:

Thank you so very very much angel22. We often talk about Samson and wonder how he is and what mischief he is getting into.

It sounds like he is very very loved and I am thankful to all that worked behind the scenes to help him.

He has always had a love for cats, he grew up with them around him and even though it was one of our cats that cost him his eye when he was little, he never once hurt them. He had a favorite who since it was a kitten Samson would pin it down with a paw and gently gnaw on it's head. This carried on even when the cat became a large adult bless him.

I am so grateful that he is happy and loved and still enjoying life to the max.

He always loved going in cars even though it usually meant a trip to the vets for something bad. He is even that soft that when he had a huge abscess on the side of his head he let them drain it without a murmer. The nurses did say they put a muzzle on him just incase but he loved ANY kind of attention and used to get mardy if NOT given at least 1 injection when on a vet visit :loopy: He even loved getting his microchip and wanted another one when he saw our other dog getting it done, and you must all know how big those needles are !!

Some of you may think that we had forgotten Samson but we could never never forget such a huge personality and part of our family life.

Live long and be happy my lovely one eyed lad

I will admit I did have a few tears in my eyes but mostly from being happy that he is ok and has found another lovely home to live in.

He is a lovely dog and very loyal. Not a bad bone in his body. He loved nothing better than waiting outside our old house for one of the neighbours to come home from work, park up his van then Samson would trot over to see if there was any snap left over and a good long fuss. I used to see people cross the road to avoid him and he would look so sad that they hadn't fussed him :( The tales I could tell you about him are endless and never a day went passed that he didn't make us laugh with his antics. :hihi:

You beat me to it, I had just come onto the pets section to share the same photos.

He was indeed a friendly and very well mannered lad when I met him, it made my day too when I saw the updates this weekend

Lol he did have good manners , well apart from the little "wind" problem:gag: and the snoring:roll: oh and the phase he went through of jumping up at men's nackers :hihi:

Received this on facebook today, Samson is still pottering on and enjoying himself, but at a pace more suited to the elderly gentleman he is now...

"Sam is still with us and happily enjoying his walks and whatever fuss is on offer. He remains a regular at the Vets and takes steroids for his skin, which also help his joints . He can only go for short walks now as although his spirit is willing his legs can't take him far. I tend to drive him to different places for him to potter around and enjoy the new smells. He can only see about 5 yards now, so I keep a close eye as he panics if he can't see me on a walk.

He continues to get attention from everyone, especially children who are fascinated by his missing eye. He enjoys the fuss although he doesn't tend to bother other people or dogs when we are out unless they approach him.

His best friend is our kitten, Freya, and they continue to share a bed. He remains a soft daft lad ."

I contacted Hula Rescue earlier this week asking about Samson and that's roughly the copy of the email I received from his new owners via Hula. Also got the new photos of him. Will try and upload them later.

He is doing very good after all he has been through. He will be 15 this year (round about june time) and has lived longer than our other heinz57. I often think of him and even more so now after getting this little cheeky monster last june....

Lets hope this puppy doesn't escape and you have enough money for vet fees and any fees that may crop up like warden fees on any occasion he does escape :/
