What do people think about the spate of celebrities that have had their private pictures spread over the internet.

Do people think that people searching for these images and reposting them should also be prosecuted or are celebrities fair game?

It's rather tawdry.

I don't see what they can be prosecuted for. The pictures are now in the public domain. The people who originally hacked the phone/cloud ccount then they've broken the law.

A little more famous thanks to the 'hackers' who 'hacked' personal porno of herself she just happen to put on cloud.

Hmmm... if I was to google her or those images, would that suggest her publicity stunt worked?

The biggest box office star of 2013. Hardly an obscure name!

EDIT: She also won the 2013 Oscar for Best Actress. I seriously don't think this is a Paris Hilton attempt to get publicity. She's arguably the best known actress in the world, and certainly no less than third best known (after Roberts and Bullock who have been around for years).

It wasn't a publicity stunt. Last month someone broke into iCloud and stole 300,000 images. Jennifer Lawrence and a couple of other a-list/b-list/z-list celebs just happened to get caught in that by foolishly uploading their naughty pictures.

Really? Wow, I wasn't aware... what do people find difficult about spending £50 on an external hard drive and backing up all the pictures that way?

And why the trend to people to take nude pictures of themselves after so many stories of them being leaked by hackers or vindictive exes?

That's what makes me lean towards it being a publicity stunt
