Freddie Flintoff avoids driving ban.

Recommended Posts

Just read this morning that Freddie Flintoff has avoided a driving ban because it would cause 'exceptional hardship' because of the effect on others who rely on the 36-year-old's extensive charity work and the privacy of his three children.

Marvellous how fame and fortune can influence magistrates, the man is a millionaire, where is the hardship, he can afford taxis or even a driver. Average man or woman in the street wouldn't get away with claiming hardship.

A friend of mine avoided a ban as it was claimed that a ban would have created a degree of hardship for him and his family. He was allowed to keep his licence because he relied on it for his job.

Driving at 87mph on a motorway does not warrant a driving ban or points or a fine The majority of people drive at at least 80 on the motorway .

No they drive with their speedos showing just under 80 which is normally a true 74/75 bliss fully unaware they arnt going as fast as they think.

But what hardship would Flintoff suffer, he could still do all the things he does now by simply hiring a driver, it is not like he can't afford it.

Are you actually driving on our motorways or are you just dreaming of how they were 25 years ago? Lane one is full of lorries 6 days a week, 24 hours a day, and Monday to Friday lane 2 is pretty full as well. Lane three can get up to 80+ but too often you have to slow down because someone is overtaking a lorry so there speed can be hardly over 60. The exception is my experience is Sunday when you can do what you like in lane 1 because of all the Sunday drivers gumming up the other two lanes doing 65. Seriously I took a picture on the (I was a passenger) and there wasn't a vehicle in lane 1 as far as the eye could see for a few miles on Sunday afternoon but the other two lanes were full of halfwits overtaking fresh air.

But the days of getting into the outside lane at the start of your journey and cranking it up to 80 odd and not slowing down till you get off the motorway are long long gone - certainly during the day. It might happen on some nights in the wee small hours but it's rare.
