medusa   16 #37 Posted January 6, 2012 I dunno??? What is she? All I've gathered is she isn't a vet / doctor / dentist or generally medically qualified.  I've been in animal rescue for nearly 20 years, worked as a volunteer at the cat shelter for 10 years and have delivered and fostered hundreds of kittens and their mummies over the years, which has included lots of blood and guts from both them and, on occasions, me.  I've taken first aid courses both in human and animal first aid and my professional qualifications for work are equivalent to the first 4 years of a medic degree, so I'm the person that is called by all and sundry to work out whether their animal needs an emergency vet or will be fine until the morning appointment they already have, or to work out whether the animal the cat has just brought in is beyond saving or could be nurtured back to health and released.  Does that sound any less like irresponsibility?
