Rotherham council think that pedestrian refuges slow down traffic

Recommended Posts

Have been in talks for some time with RMBC and last week I mentioned about pedestrian refuge being put in and the great number of them in some locations. The reply was they are there to slow traffic down. Was out today and a car went speeding over the brow of a hill with a refuge in the middle and a parked car on the pavement side. Comments Please

Don't know where this is so cannot comment specifically, but,

Pedestrian refuges are to make it safer for pedestrians to cross, not to slow down traffic.

If the car is parked badly, then that is a matter for the police.

If the safety of pedestrians is compromised by allowing parking so close to the crossing point, then why not approach the council and suggest they put waiting restrictions near the crossing point.

It drivers are driving badly, it's probably a good thing that there is some protection being provided by a refuge.

if the good people of Rovvrem had voted for the kippers at the last local election, they would've sent the refuges back to their place of origin
