Google are launching a very high spec tablet at s reasonable price. I think I may finally be tempted into buying a 7" tab.
For this price it wipes the floor for price v spec.

Exactly. The floor has just dropped out of the budget tablet market and HP Touchpads.

I've got a Tegra 2 tablet, but for £160, I'm tempted to get another tab

Not bad bit of an oversight not adding a memory card slot though 8gb is a bit poor especially as they are touting it as a media player.

What is interesting is that they used Asus to make this rather than Motorola whom they own..

There's a 16GB version too. Still not a huge amount of storage - I'm sure they'll be pushing online storage as the way forward.

Hopefully this spells the end for those awful 'no name' tablets that are so terrible they just give Android a bad name.

ANOTHER new version - this means that brand new top of the range devices like the S3 / Note / One X are already running a soon to be outdated version of Android... even the newest handsets are unlikely to get this any time soon.
From the BBC
'The update announcement comes at a time when Google has been criticised by developers for not encouraging users, and handset makers, to adopt the latest operating software.
According to Google's own statistics, less than 7% of Android users run the current latest version, Ice Cream Sandwich.
The overwhelming majority, almost 65%, run on Gingerbread.
ZDnet blogger Adrian Kingsley-Hughes said it was "hard to get excited about Android updates" because of this problem.
"'Jelly Bean' is yet another update that you're unlikely to see delivered to your Android handset," he wrote.
"Because the major players don't have any interest in delivering it, and carriers don't give a jot either."'

Wrong.
I'm already playing with it on my Acer A500, and I suspect my Samsung i9000 will have it as soon as the source drops.

16GB is now £190 delivered from somewhere semi reputable.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/goog...currys-1254341
Saves £19 over the aforementioned £199 + £10 delivery of the Google Play store. Currys don't tend to dispatch ahead of the release date like some places do.

Anyone received theirs yet? I ordered from play store and am still awaiting, I heard that Ebuyer shipped a few early, though these had build quality issues hence all other suppliers holding back??

I have had my order date changed to the 16th and the money taken, so i'm guessing its on its way (google said they will only take the money when its dispatched). This is with the Play store.
