Ideas for children's parties megathread- all discussion in here please

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any birthday party ideas - for my daughter's 5th birthday (in March, so maybe indoors is more appropriate).

Don't want to hold a party at our home and don't really want to do the usual MacDonalds or Brewsters.

Look forward to any ideas you may have

Thanks

Matt

Hire King Edwards swimming pool (presuming the kids can swim that is!)

Only about £70 for up to 40 kids, including 2 life guards, music, floats and toys etc.. for 90 mins (I think!)

You don't have to mess about with food, although we've always taken a cake and done party bagsand simple snacks for the end.

Plus, the parents of the children who can't swim can get in the pool with them.

Totally hassle free - honestly!!

Virgin gym do parties - you can have bouncy castle, make things, go in their climbing area- I had it there for my daughters party and it was fab - they take the kids off your hands for two hours and you can sit and have a coffee - just join in when its birthday cake time!

Try Steel City Gym on Broadfield Road.

The kids can run around bonkers for an hour, burning off their energy.

There's also a huge sponge pit, which - in my experience - everyone jumps into at some stage. Excellent fun.

There's also an area where the kids can eat and where a cake can be cut.

Always had tremendous enjoyment at that place.

Another good spot is the minature railway place off Abbedale Road across from the garden centre near Dore Road.

The narrow gage railway is one of the city's hidden gems. The tracks go right into Ecclesall Woods.

There's also a building there where paries can be held.

I hired a clown last September and it was well worth it.

He takes over the the whole party from start to finish so you can sit on the side and have a beer.

Well worth it , it cost me £85.00 but the kids enjoyed every moment, no time to get bored and nobody had the trouble of finding transport to get them to the venue.

My son just had his 6th birthday at Magna - u get a guide, food and party bags included as well as unlimited access after the party - it was excellent in all respects.

The Megacentre (Bernard road?) is popular - massive soft play area and hot food included.
