Help needed with family history please

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help me please with my family history research or perhaps recommend someone who can?

I am last of the family line and have undertaken quite a lot of research over recent years but rather spasmodically and some help and guidance would be beneficial, particularly in several areas where there are 'brick walls'.

As I have entered my seventies it has become more difficult to remain motivated in the absence of support but i feel a responsibility to complete the record as far as possible. Thank you!

You could try the Sheffield and District Family History Society at http://www.sheffieldfhs.org.uk/.

And Handypandy just ruined the second half of my post :)

Stick a brick wall on here and see how it goes.

Thank you Broakham. I did used to be a fhs member (and also of U3A fh group) and they are useful and interesting except I feel it's time to get down to specific individual research. I am sure fhs might well prove helpful.

Many thanks retep and will try that although some might need specialist knowledge ( eg. my grandfather was POW in the First World War but I can only find his medal record).

Perhaps if you post some details, names ages etc. We could all have a look around.

Thank you smary. One person of interest is Richardson Webster b1820, Sheffield. He appears in several family trees as a result of three marriages and had a troubled life but none of us can find a death record.

And thanks retep. I will take a look. Although from Sheffield he joined the Manchester Regiment and i do have his number.

There is a Richardson Webster living in Leeds in 1881. In 1870 it looks like this one married a Harriet Susan Brown
