Jap Desserts cakes

The Jap Cakes I remember were made from an almond meringue, coated in a coffee-flavoured butter-cream and rolled in crushed almonds - lovely:

My mum has a cake called something like a "Japs eye", coming back from the Hallamshire recently I got her one from the bakers opposite Ecclesall Church. I think its called Roses, they also make nice bread,

Yes, they are on Roses website!!!! Well, what can I say!!!! I'm on my way to their shop now!!!

Problem solved!!! Just been to get some. Not as big as I remember, but what is, and not much chocolate vermicelli round them, but still very good!!! Takes me back!!!

Sounds like a trip to Sheffield is called for!
