midgecat   10 #1 Posted December 17, 2014 Whilst some of the bigger rescues are closed for adoptions over the Christmas period, 8 Lives will remain open. We're aware that for some people who have time off work over Christmas and aren't planning a busy and noisy festive period, this could be an ideal time to welcome a new member into their home.  We have some very lovely young adult cats and an older kitten available for adoption:  http://8livescatrescue.wordpress.com/yoda/  http://8livescatrescue.wordpress.com/dizzie/  http://8livescatrescue.wordpress.com/domino/
 Share this content via...
spats   10 #2 Posted December 18, 2014 This is a great initiative. I've never really gone with the idea that all adoptions should be prevented over the Xmas holidays. Not everyone has a manic yuletide, or a houseful of hyper kids or spikey trees with glass baubles & seasonal dangers etc. Some just like to enjoy a quiet few days off. The Christmas period can be a great time to settle a new pet into the home & ideal if a new owner has more time than usual to spend with them. As long as the new owner & home are carefully vetted, I really don't see it as an issue. If more Rescues were open to this idea & took each Xmas time adoption request on a case by case basis, I'm sure good homes could be found for at least some of the animals in Rescue during the holiday season.
