Recommend me a good car

My peugeot 307 hdi has just about given up on me, and i am looking for another diesel, can anyone recommend one? i read a while ago on here that someone recommended a certain type of car that they said most taxi drivers use, but for the life of me i cant remember what it was, any recommendations?

i was looking to spend between 4k and 5k

Or a 320d BMW. Just check that the camchain work has been done.

yeah, Skoda were a joke, but from the little i know, they are supposed to be good now, are they owned by BMW os something now?

VW/Audi.

 

you will find a lot of parts for Skoda have VW and or Audi markings on them. Same part. Half the price.

Irrelevant on mileage. The chain is a sealed for life but there is a problem with the cars using N47 engines from 2007 to about 2012. If the corrective work on the guides and crank hasn't been done it's engine failure time.

 

After 2012 it's not a problem and ones fixed under warranty are also good - so no chain attention needed or cambelt swaps at all.

so it was a design fault? shouldn't they have all be recalled and rectified?

I think the taxi drivers often use a Nissan (The Nissan NV200 London taxi) and that brings me to my car which is a 2009 Nissan Qashqai 2 litre diesel.

It’s absolutely brilliant to drive, powerful, reliable and reasonably economical to run.

It’s one of my favourite crossover types of vehicle.
