Any recommendations? I'm fairly eclectic but for a Friday night I'd prefer something loud and electric before something acoustic.
According to Sandman there are these gigs on tonight:
Friday 8th
111 Club: Tony Woods Project
The Boardwalk: The Dizzy Club
Classic Rock Bar: Izon Paradise + Mothership
Corporation: Yourcodenameismilo + Agent Blue
Earl of Arundel & Surrey: Shock’n’Awe: The Maybes + Trap 2 + Arctic Monkeys
The Grapes: Loud & Live: Moobs + Winter North Atlantic + SLBC
The Leadmill: The Delgados + Sons & Daughters

The earl of Arundal.
Trap 2 are getting some very good press at the moment and the new stuff I've heard from Artic monkeys is quite goos.
I think it is £4 but it should be a good night.

Count the Dizzy Club out, they are a good band but its more laid back acoustic and jazzy, than Electric and loud.
I'd choose The Delgados

Your codename is: Milo have cancelled their tour cos the singer's ill.
Don't know if the gig at corpo is going ahead anyway, there was supposed to be 3 other bands on.

It's free to get into both rooms at the Classic Rock Bar. I'd HIGHLY recommend Izon Paradise - fabulous quality progressive rock.
We are real ale award winners this month through CAMRA so it's worth a beer in the CRB!

I'm off to see the Delgados. Heard good reports from earlier dates on the tour. Never seen them 'in the flesh' before but everybody always says they're fantastic live.

How much do you think the Leadmill / Delgados will be? Although sounds like the Earl of Arundel is more what I'm after
Thanks for your help

I think the advance tix for the Delgados were 9 notes - probably be a quid more on the door, maybe two.
Have heard good things about the Earl too... have to check it out soon. Let us know what it's like if you end up going.

I hope you had a good night.
You should all get yourselves down to the boardwalk next tuesday (oct 12th) for 3 hot bands:
*Screaming Mimi
*In Theory
*Vanity Case
All bands include at least 1 female member, so if you like your girls to rock and your music to be damn good, come and have some fun!
doors @ 8pm
hope to see you there
love VaMpY x

So I went to see Arctic Monkeys + Trap 2
Monkeys played first some people might think I'm a bit wierd cos they never really got going and the whole atmosphere was flat but I really enjoyed them. Stood at the back giggling behind a lot of glum people. They are fresh, different, witty. I think they had problems with the sound and the bassist broke a string. But nothing seemed to faze the vocalist. He was clear. I even came away remembering some lyrics
but you ain't from New York City
Youre from F***ing Rotherham
So stop pretending
Cool,
On the other hand Trap 2 was the kind of band I expected to see. They were tight and had a good sound. But I heard too many Who/Zep inspired bands - They were cookin but I was bored. They took themselves too serious, singer was going off on his trip to LA To see Jim m but couldn't take me past Rotherham - and put that f***ing tambourine away.
- he probably is from f***ing Rotherham so stop pretending.
