If you live by elitist big poster alchresearch's rules then you have not posted enough to make such a suggestion.
I think alchs point was the longer you've been here, the more you know what it was like and what it is like

Hmmm... so just out of interest then...

... how many posts do I have to make and how much of my life do I have to waste before I'm in a position to comment on the status of the forum?

This thread is a good example of what is wrong with this forum and other social media. Fatwhale asks a perfectly acceptable and reasonable question. We don't know what his motive was but maybe he was looking for a sensible discussion. Instead, virtually straight away the thread descended into personal attacks, comments and general rudeness. No wonder the moderators on here have such a busy time.

What do you think?
I think it's OK. Why do you think it isn't?
Don't you think you should justify your comment with a little more information?

Personally I don't think it's as good as it once was, and some of the best posters have left, but I think it's still a good place to air your views.

I agree with you Anna B. It would have been better if the OP had explained himself. Also agree with the comment about him not returning to his thread. It happens a lot on forums and it's almost like walking away in the middle of a conversation. Lots of forums fail and Facebook is preferred by many. Sheffield Forum is still here and relatively busy so I am persuaded that it is not 'The End'.

a question for Fatwhale. Why is the Forum's time up ? Do you have something in mind that would replace it ?
I would like to see the Forum go a step further. Just like the survey now in place, on whether to retain the Royal Family, I would like to see some political surveys on the Forum, on issues that affect Sheffield and S. Yorks, and the results be presented to the various MPs who would then relate them to Westminster or whoever was applicable

I have been a member on here since April 2003 in other words the beginning and it has changed a lot.
In those day's members all knew each other (not personally) and made interesting discussion's wether they agreed or not but now you get people onhere just gunning for an argument or to dis-agree and twist your question for the sake of it.
This thread is an example of that as the OP is just asking for an opinion and wether he is fed up or not isn't asking to move on to somewhere else.
The forum is a bit like Jeremy Kyle show maybe it has had its day but people still look in

I am a member and frequent 'forum user' (quite often without logging in!) and enjoy it (on the whole!). There are some great/knowledgeable members who far and away outnumber the numpties (even in the Sheffield Football section,... just!!)

It is still a great place to 'Get up to date'! and/or while away an hour or so, be you looking for Info, Debate or just a bit of a 'brain-by-pass hour' as I have just spent (mainly) in the 'I'm Bored' section!.

Hey Cycleracer, Fatwhale asked "if readers thought the Forum's time is up ?" Good question, but it appears that many don't think so.
I suppose it all depends what the majority of readers want to get out of it ?

But I agree with you, there seems to be the cynics looking for arguments for the sake of it and making rude and ignorant comments.
I think the best way to handle them is to try to ignore them and hope they go away.

I think you've all been trolled by someone who posts from multiple accounts. The sort of behaviour that puts other people off from using the forum.
