stevew   10 #3 Posted December 5, 2016 My Dad had one.................bought it new from Hatfields in 52/53. He kept it for about 10years I think. Reg OWA 847. I last saw it in the early 80's on the back of a tipper, presumably being taken to a scrapyard!
 Share this content via...

mikeG Â Â 16 #5 Posted December 15, 2016 What engine was in the Mayflower? I know the bigger Razoredge was 2 litre but not sure about the Mayflower. The Razoredge was 3 speed column change - I presume the Mayflower was likewise.
 Share this content via...
PeterR   10 #6 Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) What engine was in the Mayflower? I know the bigger Razoredge was 2 litre but not sure about the Mayflower. The Razoredge was 3 speed column change - I presume the Mayflower was likewise.  The bigger car was the Renown. My teacher at school in the 1950s had one in black. I always thought the engine sounded like my mother's Singer sewing machine. Beautiful car.  Here are some pics and spec of both lovely cars....  https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=triumph+mayflower&qpvt=triumph+mayflower&qpvt=triumph+mayflower&qpvt=triumph+mayflower&FORM=IGRE  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Mayflower  https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=triumph+renown&qpvt=triumph+renown&qpvt=triumph+renown&qpvt=triumph+renown&FORM=IGRE  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Renown  Peter. PeterR Â Â 10 #8 Posted December 15, 2016 Very interesting. I thought the VW Beetle was the first car to have synchro on all forward gears. Â This seems to infer that the Beetle didn't have synchro on all forward gears until 1961.... mad-dad   29 #9 Posted December 18, 2016 Our next door neighbour on Birley Spa Lane had one in the mid 1950s. It was black and I always looked upon it as a limo. Mind you, I was only about 4 foot tall.
 Share this content via...
