Billam Street, Eckington.

Recommended Posts

I have often wondered what were the origins of Billam Street in Eckington, it is quite an unusual name.

I know that my family were originally from Norton and Green hill before settling in Woodseats.

It's just a name. A mix of Bill and William I suspect.

Billams lived in Eckington from mid 1600's, so a local family name.

Interesting. I didn't know that. Thanks. As an Eckingtonian that's of interest.

I expect the Fenton's live there too for some years.

What Billam family history do you have? I have a John Dyson marrying an Elizabeth Billam in Rotherham in 1846. Her father was a Francis Billam.

Got just about all the family history, I have found your Elizabeths dad, Francis on my tree. My link is Francis brother John. Do you know any Billam history or is it Dyson history you are interested in.

That's all I really know on Billam history, I am interested in the Billam side. The name Francis carried on to my father but they changed it to Frank. Yes I would be interested in the Billam history.
