Why are Leeds disliked by other football clubs?

Recommended Posts

I been to a few games and the fans randomly sing "we all hate Leeds, son" even if Leeds aren't playing. It could be Barnsley V QPR or something but "we all hate leeds son" is often chanted

And when they sing the "Marching on together" song, everyone boos

Why does this happen?

Is there a reason why Leeds are viewed as the bad guy of football?

Could be wrong but I think it goes back to the seventies - dirty Leeds. Could be wrong though. I never quite understand it.

Do you mean they played dirty?

Fowling opponents constantly

When will they be forgiven if it goes back to the 1970s?

It goes back to 1964 when under Don Revie, they hacked their way out of the old second division and for the next ten years or more carried on with it. Their reputation has stuck all these years. I think Millwall FC are even more disliked but they and their fans are more low profile these days.

Probably the same reason why Weds fans sing about the 3-0 defeat on boxing day in the 70's

They also have a bad reputation for always fighting, targeting innocent people, away grounds criminal damage, tearing up seats and throwing them. I could go on....

We met a family from Leeds on holiday a couple of years ago and all were Leeds fans

All were very well behaved and didn't behave like thugs

Both husband and wife worked in the NHS and both the boys (teens) had very good manners and never once tried to smash up any of the local bars while they were on holiday
