The good news is that any BT customer affected can now cancel their contract within 30 days of receiving notice of the change without incurring charges, and transfer to another provider. I just hope that people will be sensible enough to do just this.
 Share this content via...
sgtkate   10 #5 Posted January 23, 2017 Why is it that when Sky and TalkTalk increase prices no one bats and eyelid, but when BT do it's a front page story on the Beeb?
 Share this content via...
apelike   10 #6 Posted January 23, 2017 Why is it that when Sky and TalkTalk increase prices no one bats and eyelid, but when BT do it's a front page story on the Beeb?  Maybe because it is the largest broadband and phone provider in the UK and when they announce an increase the others normally follow. sgtkate   10 #7 Posted January 23, 2017 Maybe because it is the largest broadband and phone provider in the UK and when they announce an increase the others normally follow.  Except Sky and TalkTalk already announced price rises a month or so ago, so in fact BT is the last of them to announce a rise. Oh anyway, not saying it's great, just really don't get the media BT hate.
 Share this content via...

Oh anyway, not saying it's great, just really don't get the media BT hate.  Don't know about TalkTalk, but Sky haven't announced a price change as yet, Normally what happens is Openreach put the price up of the network then as openreach and BT are the same, BT announce price change first then others follow suit. geared   306 #9 Posted January 23, 2017 just really don't get the media BT hate.  Everyone's got a story about how BT (or more often Openreach) messed something up and caused stress, so storys bashing BT practically write themselves. Sky and TalkTalk pretty much always increase prices well above Openreach increases, but by all means believe the BT hate. Of course Sky TV is totally affected by Openreach wholesale prices...  ---------- Post added 23-01-2017 at 17:06 ----------  Everyone's got a story about how BT (or more often Openreach) messed something up and caused stress, so storys bashing BT practically write themselves.  Yet TalkTalk have lower customer sat scores than BT. Skys are fractionally better though  https://press.which.co.uk/whichpressreleases/talktalk-bottom-in-which-broadband-customer-satisfaction-survey/  I'm going to stop now as I'm sounding like a company stooge!
