soft ayperth   11 #19 Posted March 7, 2015 I ran it for 18 months...and then the offside front wing fell off! I sold it for a fiver to a guy who wanted it for "banger racing".  Things didn't get any better for me. My next car was an old Standard, pre-war probably. Paid $15. Never worked. The petrol would vaporise before it got to the carburetor, then the car would just stop - suddenly. A quick fix was to pour cold water over the inlet pipe to the carburetor. Once, I was giving a couple of guys a ride home from work and at the bottom of Duke St it conked out. Rushed into a newsagents, bought a bottle of pop and poured it over the carburetor. Car started, but there was this smell of burning sugar until it stopped again. At work the next day, one of the guys shouted: "Eyup, tha wants to get a ride from this bloke. iz car runs on Tizer."
