Percy Warriner - York and Lancs

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon

I am researching Percy Warriner, Private 11238, York and Lancaster Regiment who died of wounds on the 30th August 1915. He is buried in Chatby Cemetery, Alexandria. He had been wounded during the Gallipoli campaign.

I know that he was married to Ruth and for a time they lived at 31 Darwin Road, Sheffield.

If anyone has any information/photos/anything at all, I would be

very pleased to hear.

Thank you.

Chris

Hi Chris - I imagine you have access to family history websites, but in case you haven't, Percy Warriner and Ruth Amelia Ridgway were married in Sheffield in Jan-Mar 1911. The 1911 census finds them at 132 Commonside; Percy is described as a "Shoe Blade Grinder" aged 20, Ruth being aged 19. It seems that Ruth married a Harry Banks in Sheffield in 1952, and died aged 66 in 1957.

Hillsbro

Thanks for responding - much appreciated.

I do have access to Ancestry etc so knew about his early life but I was unaware that Ruth had re-married so thanks as that has added to my 'picture' of him.

Thanks again.

Chris
