Futures Red   11 #4 Posted February 18, 2017 Wanting to know. It seems to be a minefield!!  Each publisher works slightly differently regarding receiving proposals and manuscripts etc.  Obviously you've got to know precisely what category your book fits under so that you can decide which publishers to approach.  Don't just send off your manuscript to just any publisher - do your research on who will be the best for you. Get in touch with them first, or find out how they prefer to receive your manuscript and proposal.  Make your proposal very compelling... and answer the questions they require in your proposal... if you look on their site or ask, they have proposal guidelines. For example, some won't want to even see your manuscript at this stage and some might just want the first three chapters.  Make sure your proposal is well written backed up with facts and statistics and it's very important that you've got a plan. Know your outcome, for example - publishers offer between 5% and 15% of their total net profits, so know what you want and what they offer.  If you are confident and wholeheartedly believe you have a good book, coupled with a strong plan, you will get a publishing deal.  Having a good social media following would also help. As much as you can build your profile, the better.  Good luck.
 Share this content via...
