bantycock   10 #853 Posted November 27, 2015 Don't recall the shop Brian, and as Scott Street was part of a quick detour across the 'rec' from Petre Street to Newhall Road perhaps I missed it.  Send us a few pics of Brooklyn let's see how we have evolved over the last 40 or so years ! johnpm   18 #854 Posted November 27, 2015 --------------- Hi Johnpm, I'am not sure where Keith lived after moving from Scott St, and not really sure what sports he played. I have seen him around through Sheffield town last year. I have been going through your photos you have on this thread and here are two pics of Keith Wild in uniform on holiday in Jersey 1956/1960. ------- PAGE 26-- No 503. Two laddies sat in middle Keith next to them on right. 1956 pic. On same page front row secone from right. pic 1960. Hope this helps John. Brian.  Hi Brian, Yes that's him. He must be in his mid 70's now. John
 Share this content via...

The nearest most Grimesthorpe kids got to playground amenities was Firth Park itself.
 Share this content via...

I think the 1947 photo was of that year it opened, the kids are running across Barbur Road, the photo taken from either Kayser-Ellison's canteen on Sutherland Road or the rear of Earsham Street houses, the houses just beyond the playground are on Forncett Street and above that is part of the 'Majestic' Firth-Brown's. I use that adjective because they provided a lot of employment (my dad for one) and were synonymous with great things from industrial Sheffield. Oh, and the kids in the playground too ! ---------- Post added 27-11-2015 at 19:32 ----------  I think the 1947 photo was of that year it opened, the kids are running across Barbur Road, the photo taken from either Kayser-Ellison's canteen on Sutherland Road or the rear of Earsham Street houses, the houses just beyond the playground are on Forncett Street and above that is part of the 'Majestic' Firth-Brown's. Great pics ! And as this is a Grimesthorpe thread and Sutherland Road is in Ellesmere/Pitsmoor . I respect those at the , well. Carlisle Road /Upwell Street area anyway.
