markyspark   10 #1 Posted December 10, 2016 Hello all  We have just signed for a council bungalow and there is a 20 foot white birch in our front garden  The tree is well out of control and I'm wondering if felling it is down to me or the council?  Just wanted to check before I approach the council  All the best  Mark
 Share this content via...
hagrid   10 #2 Posted December 10, 2016 Tell the Council it is special to you and your neighbours and they will creep up one early morning and chop it down.  Being serious check your paperwork regarding the property it may have something in there, if it is a danger to anyone they should lop it for you. Margarita Ma   10 #3 Posted December 10, 2016 Tenants are generally responsible for maintaining gardens. You would have been well advised to talk to the council before signing the tenancy agreement. Do you not read anything you are signing? There may be a tree preservation order on it as it is in the front garden and visible to other people, therefore regarded as a public amenity.
