Daven   10 #25 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) One afternoon, when Bruno came home from school, he was surprised to find Maria, the family's maid- who always kept her head bowed and never looked up from the carpet - standing in his bedroom, pulling all his belongings out of the wardrobe and packing them in four large wooden crates, even the things he's hidden at the back that belonged to him and were nobody else's business. Just covering himself, no doubt. Her round face is stern, her rosebud mouth unsmiling. Momo gives a laugh that is too big for her slight frame;it propels her back on the bed and one shoe slips off and thumps onto the floor. It was a tearful homage made to a grandfather they had never known, albeit 92 years late.  John Boyne - The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas Mark Haddon - A Spot of Bother Phillipa Gregory - The Kingmakers Daughter Allison Pearson - I Don't Know How She Does It Lynne Whitely - A Pocket Full of Hope Edited September 20, 2015 by Daven
 Share this content via...
