swarfendor437   14 #13 Posted September 29, 2014 Comodo Firewall installed some free advertising malware when I used it a couple of weeks ago. Just be wary of add on programs being installed if you use it. If it does install the adware then malwarebytes will get rid of it.  My bad - I always do 'custom' install on any free products - you just have to pay particular attention to:  PrivDog GeekBuddy +any server settings  So if installed in a customised manner you won't need to run malwarebytes on it! lookleft   10 #15 Posted September 30, 2014 What's the opinion on microsofts free Security Essentials?   All the reviews put MSE [Windows Defender in Windows 8] at the bottom of the pile of free antivirus.  MSE covers only the bare basics of malware protection and you would be better looking at Comodo, Avast or AVG for better protection. Skink   10 #16 Posted October 1, 2014 I have Avast running for live protection (it has some annoying pop up habits but still v good) and do weekly(ish) SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes checks  CCleaner and Defraggler is worth having as part of a cleanup routine also
 Share this content via...
