Planning needed for studio at home?

Recommended Posts

If you buy a house and use an outbuilding, say, as a photographic studio (Business Use category B1), would you need planning permission and, if so, would you be likely to get it?

Category B1 is business use unlikely to adversely impact on a residential area.

Probably not, the Planning Portal is a good place to find out some basic info re. Planning Permission requirements.

As this is only my second post I can't post URL's yet but google Planning Portal>top left Do you need permission>RH list Common projects>scroll down to the bottom and click Working from home URL.

If there is any doubt speak to the planners at the council and possibly apply for Certificate of Lawfulness.
