remapper   10 #14 Posted March 8, 2016 (edited) from experience the vag 1.6tdi (siemens pcr2.1)ecu HAS to be removed from the car and opened to allow direct connection in order to enable engine chip tuning including egr/dpf delete, this is due to the "engine map" being protected which makes it unreadable via the obd port "until" it is software patched by direct connection in order to remove the (tprot) tuning protection , the ecu is refitted to the vehicle and then the modified tuning file can be fitted via obd. geared   302 #15 Posted March 9, 2016 Before you do a remap, I would check with your insurance company as not all of them will cover  I don't think many would refuse cover, they love money afterall.  I'd expect a decent bump in premium cost though, some of the remaps can give really impressive increases in power output.
