Karis   11 #1 Posted October 8, 2009 Anyone know the best / cheapest form of shipping from the USA to the UK?  I wondered if anyone used any particular company for large weight shipments?
 Share this content via...
focusedhypno   10 #2 Posted October 9, 2009 I recently saw this website and thought that it was a great idea so bookmarked it. Then you asked this questions and I thought you might be interested. Coincidence or what?! http://www.bundlebox.com/
 Share this content via...
scottf   21 #3 Posted October 9, 2009 What kind of stuff are you shipping? Size/Weight? Any special shipping requirements etc etc.
 Share this content via...
Karis   11 #4 Posted October 9, 2009 They're glass bottles of drinks and while they're not overly large (size of a normal case of 24 drinks), they're just quite heavy at 14 kilos a case.  I think I'm going to send them via sea as every other option makes them far too expensive to ship. mr chris   10 #5 Posted October 10, 2009 Are there any restrictions when importing foodstuffs from outside the EU?  http://www.food.gov.uk/foodindustry/imports/
 Share this content via...
Karis   11 #6 Posted October 10, 2009 Thanks for that, Chris. Isn't in interesting what you CAN'T import?  I've done this a fair few times now and I'm definitely not importing anything restricted or evil  Well, it might be evil... mr chris   10 #7 Posted October 10, 2009 Thanks for that, Chris. Isn't in interesting what you CAN'T import? I've done this a fair few times now and I'm definitely not importing anything restricted or evil  Well, it might be evil...  I know, I was all set for importing avian flu samples and spores, and now I find I can't. It's so unfair!
 Share this content via...
Karis   11 #8 Posted October 10, 2009 I know, I was all set for importing avian flu samples and spores, and now I find I can't. It's so unfair!  ROFL! I've decided to ship the heavy stuff by sea. There's a cool website where companies can bid on your shipment. That's actually pretty cool.  https://www.uship.com/
 Share this content via...

mr chris   10 #11 Posted October 10, 2009 Spores are no problem.  You'd reckon, but apparently not so much as hand luggage....
 Share this content via...
MNS MIKE Â Â 10 #12 Posted October 13, 2009 Hi Karis, you have chosen the cheaper option there by sea. If you have the Commodity code of the items as well you will be able to check roughly what sort of amounts of VAT/Duty will be applicable in the UK also (if any) This is usually helpfull as at times i have come accross people who did not take into account the customs side of things in their budgeting.
