Hi people.
I know O2 are having major issues all over the uk right now, but I've been having issues since November and they know as I call and complain every month.

Well I'm getting fed up with them now so would like to know if I can get away from them. I have a 2year contract with 1year left.

Is there a get out clause or what ever it's called for me? Or are there Amy contracts that will buy off your contract?

Unlikely - they will be covered in the terms for service issues. Most you might get is a few quid refund if it goes on much longer.

Watch out for those 'buy out' contracts - they work by charging you more per month than you would normally pay so you just pay more in the end.

I've just called Sheffield consumer services. They told me to send a formal letter of complaint to O2. Then if after 8weeks if they haven't sorted the service to call them again and they'll take on the case

I threatened to leave them and they just said it's written into my contract that they cannot guarantee a good signal.
I've just set wheels in motion to change my landline and broadband from O2 and they weren't very pleased about it my BB speed has halved and they just said its within 30% of what I can expect.
Customer service is pathetic.

Yeah I did that with an old 02 one - but they would only let me drop down to the next lowest contract, once a month, and only 3 times.

Eg £40 > £35 > £30 > £25

Very interesting, I think its quite unusual for them to allow you to downgrade your contract at all as the price of the contract is what is paying for the phone - unless you have a plain SIM only contract.

Pretty sure that T-Mobile don't do it anyway, interesting that O2 do.

Then again I was never impressed with O2. They claim the best call completion rate but I had plenty of problems getting a good signal and tons of problems getting cut off when calling my friend no O2 as his house has next to no reception.

Until only a few months ago my house was right in the middle of an O2 poor signal area, but now we have a nice new mast practically next door.

Had very few problems since I switched to T-Mobile, other than their data service being capped very low, which seems to have improved this year, partly as I was upgraded to the next tier up for free as I complained that the service they were provided was too slow to use.

its odd, I'm on o2 and haven't had any problems at all the last few days, apart from slightly flakey data connection, but nothing major!

I think that it wasn't actually the network that was the problem, but that some numbers were no longer being recognised as valid so they couldn't connect to it.

Exactly right.

All these people cribbing about compensation and wanting to leave O2. It's beyond pathetic tbh. +

I'm going borrow an idea from Mr Jeremy Clarkson and suggest all those that are doing the above be lined up in front of their families and shot for being whiny snivelling pathetic individuals.

I think you will find if you read the previoius posts the the people who are considering leaving O2 have been having problems for quite some time and it is nothing to do with the current problems.

Don't suppose you live at High Green do you cos I do and have not been able to get a signal that doesn't keep dropping out since November last year when they moved the mast

I live at Chapeltown, what I do is turn off the 3G to boost signal, if I want to browse net I know it's slower but still connects via edge but at least I've got a decent signal till hopefully they sort it out.

Trouble is that they don't seem to have any intention of sorting it out, all they could tell me was that they have checked at the mast and all is OK so that is the end of it.

Just sign up for a new mobile and then cancel the O2 direct debit.
