TORONTONY   10 #2 Posted November 11, 2016 Singer song writer Leonard Cohen has passed away. Another great name gone this year  Yes indeed, just heard the news, one of the greatest lyric writers and poets the modern world has seen. He should have been up there with Bob Dylan at the Nobel prize awards. One of my favourite albums is Famous Blue Raincoat by Jennifer Warnes, where she interprets his songs to perfection RIP Mr.Cohen, you were one of the best and Canadian to boot. Temuchin   13 #4 Posted November 11, 2016 He should have been up there with Bob Dylan at the Nobel prize awards.  I loved his words about Dylan getting Nobeled: something along the lines of "It's like giving Everest a medal for being the highest mountain." Always the gent. Bye, Leonard, and thanks for all you gave during your years.
 Share this content via...

Deak   10 #6 Posted November 11, 2016 I was introduced to Leonard Cohen's work by my younger brother and continue to listen to it today. Many of Cohen's works/songs/poems are written to be 'open to your own interpretation'! (imho). He performed them in his own inimitable style, and you either liked it or you didn't!. He said in interview recently that he was 'prepared and ready to die', Well.... He's stepped into an avalanche, It's covered up his soul. R.I.P. Hallelujah Suzanne and my favourite- Hey thats no way to say goodbye, especially the duet he sang with Julie Felix which can be seen on YouTube. R I P. Â Looks interesting so I just bought it . I loved the music and lyrics of both Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen from the sixties . For me Leonard Cohen's work is so much more enduring and meaningful. I didn't get to see either of them until the last 5 years or so. Bob Dylan at the Arena was probably the most disappointed that I have been at a concert.Self indulgent, distant and unintellageable. Leonard Cohen in Manchester was the exact opposite. Warm, engaging, amusing and with great musicians and backing singers.A great night to remember. Thanks Mr Cohen and I will continue to enjoy your music and poetry.
 Share this content via...
