the_mandarin   15 #1 Posted January 24, 2017 Can anyone recommend Anti-Virus software for Windows 7? I have used McAfee for a long time and was happy with it. But they are now quoting a very high price for renewal and I want to switch to something else.  I am not insisting on a free version of the anti-virus, but have no issues if the best one is free to use. But I am happy to pay a small subscription fee if the software is worth it.  Thanks in advance!
 Share this content via...

Skink   10 #3 Posted January 24, 2017 Avast works for me, bit "naggy" but seems efficient enough - and its free  MalwareBytes sometimes spots things Avast misses (like PUPs mostly) so I run that once a month too. Also free
 Share this content via...

the_mandarin   15 #7 Posted January 24, 2017 Thanks for the advice.  Has anyone used Kaspersky? It is not free but reasonably priced. And the fact that Barclays gives this free to its customers would suggest it is perhaps better than the free ones?
 Share this content via...
Jomie   30 #8 Posted January 24, 2017 Have used Kaspersky for some years. Used to have the ISS purchased via my bank but now use antivirus only, bought quite cheaply on eBay. I find it unobtrusive, easy to use and doesn't slow the computer down. Would recommend, especially as it usually scores well in tests. the_mandarin   15 #9 Posted January 24, 2017 I have noticed some sellers on eBay seling a one year subscription to McAfee for less than a tenner.  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272509313165  Any thoughts or good/bad experiences with any of these? baddodaddo   10 #10 Posted January 24, 2017 I use Avast free but I would also recommend Kaspersky as when I did use it I found it slightly better than avast and a good price too.
 Share this content via...
