Cheap crayons, kids clothes and toiletries

Recommended Posts

I'm off to Cuba soon. It's a third world country and it's people are still on rations. I'm planning to go and buy stuff to take to a school (crayons, toys etc) as well as make up (women have to wear it for work despite not bring able to buy it). Can anyone recommend where I can buy this stuff in bulk to take over with me?

A great thing to do.

Cheap £1 reading glasses and USB memory sticks are popular to- avoid felt pens.

Some airlines have provided free extra baggage allowances in the past. They will also offer advice on packaging, labelling and customs.

Cuba does not regard itself as a third world country and neither do its people.

Individuals can be quietly offended by reference to "charity"and you could cause offence to the 'politicos'. Many people see their situation as being due to their neighbours economic blockade and not under development.

Yep free luggage from Thomas Cook :)

I've been to Cuba many times so I'm aware of the sensitivities ;)

Wilkinsons often have cheap pencil crayons, erasers, etc.

It might be worth ringing a few local stores, like asda, morrisons, lidl, wilkinsons, sainsburys, etc. If you explain what you are doing, they might be willing to donate some things?
