The Sheffield Amnesty International Local Group (in conjunction with Sheffield University and Reprieve) are showing the award winning documentary "Fourteen Days in May"

The film recounts the final days before the execution of Edward Earl Johnson, an American prisoner convicted of rape and murder and imprisoned in the Mississippi State Penitentiary. The documentary crew, given access to the prison warden, guards and chaplain and to Johnson and his family, filmed the last days of Johnson's life in detail.

 

The documentary will be introduced by Dan Dolan (Reprieve's Head of Policy) about Reprieve's work since the film. A panel discussion and audience Q&A will follow with representatives from Sheffield English, Sheffield Philosophy, Sheffield Amnesty and Reprieve talking about the impact of literature and film about the death penalty and contemporary developments in capital punishment around the world.
