Wynter   10 #1 Posted July 21, 2014 Hi guys, I have a Labrador that i have bought up from puppy with another dog, a little jack russel cross, whom i also bought up from pup. The jack russel cross has always been abit iffy with other dogs, as can sometimes be the way with terriers, but I have always been told that Labradors have a nice temperament naturally. Unfortunately this isnt true for my black lab. She is quite dominant and aggressive to other dogs, and also will bark and run up to people too if they startle her. She has never bitten anyone, but a big black Labrador running up to you barking and somewhat aggressively is scary and i understand it when people yell and get frightened.  It makes me despair when she does this because i just want her to get on with other dogs and people. She is very nervous over men especially. But when she gets to know people she really loves them and fusses over them excitedly. She is a lovely dog inside the house to us & friends & relatives, but if someone new comes in she barks alot and seems very nervous. She is very dominant with other dogs and will always approach them tail high and if they dont move like she wants she will growl and snarl. I hate it, I just want my dog to be a nicer dog!. I cant think if its something I and my partner have done to cause this behavior as we have got her from pup.  Does anyone know of any really good dog behaviorists or trainers that could help us out in the Sheffield area?. Thank you!.
 Share this content via...
lfindlay   10 #2 Posted July 22, 2014 Hi you can try Attercliffe dog training club on Monday evenings at Grimsthorpe family centre about 6.30pm They have some really good tips and methods of training by some very experienced committee members they have been running for over 30 years. There is a website for them too.
 Share this content via...
SteadyNeddy   10 #3 Posted July 23, 2014 How well socialised was she when she was a pup? Did she get lots of opportunities to meet other dogs and have nice, positive experiences with them? Has she had any obviously 'negative' experiences with dogs that you know about?  I have a very friendly black lab x collie boy who would be more than happy to meet up with your girly and show that other doggies aren't always worth grumbling at...
