" Where do you come from?" What must outsiders have thought when someone replied "Grimesthorpe Road, Pitsmoor." Grime and pits !

Grimesthorpe comes from 'Grim' I believe, some place name used by one of the Nordic settlers ? ( " Well why didn't you look it up first then ?" ).

Not all Grimesthorpe Rd came under Pitsmoor.

Grimesthorpe Road ran from Gower Street (Pitsmoor) to Upwell Lane (Grimesthorpe). The demarcation of the two districts was the big white house where the Taffinder's used to live. Similary, Petre Street ran from Ellesmere Road to Hunsley Street and the divider there was/is Garter Street, the same for Carlisle Street East also.
