Fun fair at sheaf square

Recommended Posts

I've seen a poster in a shop window advertising a fun fair in sheffield. The poster stated that it was at sheaf square and i think it was due to start at the end of this week. I thought sheaf square was the square im front of the railway station in town. Maybe i'm wrong because surely that square wouldn't be big enough for a funfair.

You are correct.

Sheaf Square is where the fountain and cascades are in front of the railway station.

It is the big piece of waste ground adjacent to the station where the fair will be.

In the 1960's a fair was held on a goods yard near the Midland Station and in the late 1970's fairs were held near to where the Europa garage is at the bottom of Granville Road.Years ago fairs were held on the old station approach at the former Victoria Station.

Lovely to hear you reminising about the good old days matthew. Might see you at the fair for a burger and a spin on the freak out. Don't worry the freak out looks worse than it actually is.
