Bilge   34 #25 Posted March 21, 2017 There are hipsters in Crosspool?  Not resident ones but they'd scoot over from neighbouring areas if there was somewhere worth going for an overpriced small can of beer.
 Share this content via...
PeterHMM Â Â 10 #26 Posted March 22, 2017 A nice French bistro along the lines of Cafe Ceres would get my custom. Or a good quality Indian. Emphasis on the good as there is no shortage of average ones within a couple of miles.
 Share this content via...

Bilge   34 #28 Posted March 22, 2017 Maybe the owners are thinking about flats. A failed restaurant/cafe can prove the lack of demand for that use, like the coffee place at the bottom of Lydgate Lane that magically turned into a house because no-one went to it. Surprised given what happened to Aligarh- was hoping it was going to be a bar or something.
 Share this content via...

Well it does have a bar and an outside seating area. They could make more of that. I'd happily sit outside with a beer on a summer evening.  From the last planning application it was supposed to be the chemist moving in from across the road with a pilates room upstairs. That must have fallen through. So this sounds better.
 Share this content via...
Bilge   34 #32 Posted April 23, 2019 (edited) Update: replacement timber has been fixed to the previously rotting window sill and a bit of filler has been applied. A small step forward after 5 years of nothing but at least the refurb has begun. Edited April 24, 2019 by Bilge
 Share this content via...

MaxVinella   10 #35 Posted May 18, 2019 (edited) Have read that owners now have Rajput in Commonside.  Reviews I have seen for Rajput agree on good food, but bad service.  Hopefully new place with same cooks but different service staff. Rajput food is top drawer use it regularly for takeaway.  only ate in once and I’m going back maybe 5 years but service wasn’t great.   Owner seemed a nice fella.  could be good.
