Recommend a carpet & flooring supplier/fitter? No quotes/advertising

When we moved in to our house last year, we used L M Hill on Middlewood Rd in Hillsborough.

Would recommend this company also.

Does anyone know of a good and reasonably priced carpet fitter?

I want the stairs doing. I've found the carpet online so need it measuring and fitting when it arrives.

Also need lino fitting in the kitchen.

I only use Tufts down on Hillsborough barracks, and their main fitting team Alan & Brett.

Pyramid Carpets would be my vote

A kindly neighbour had some extra carpeting left over which they gave to us. We'd like to cut it down to use as an area carpet.

Any recommendations for someone who could cut it neatly for us? Does anything need to be done to the edges so it doesn't come unravelled?

Or, can a not-very-handy DIYer do this himself? What tools would I need?

If it's not going to butt up against the walls/skirting, you should get the edges bound, otherwise they will fray over time. I've had offcuts from Balfour Carpets, Staniforth Rd, Darnall, trimmed square and edged for area rugs. They have the machine there and they should do it, though for a small fee given that you didn't purchase the carpet from them. Much better, in my opinion, than doing it yourself with a stanley knife.

We have the carpet but need someone to cut it and edge it. We also need underlay, but of course could buy that separately if necessary.

Mintons are cheap and good quality. If you ask they may fit for you.
