New Computer / Vista

It may cost a bit to get the data off (maybe?)

you could buy a USB to SATA cable on ebay and do it yourself - just plug your old hard drive in to the new machines USB port

ok :)

you would buy something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB3-0-To-2-5inch-HDD-SATA-Hard-Drive-Cable-Adapter-For-SATA3-0-SSD-HDD-Black/232173062624?_trksid=p2045573.c100505.m3226&_trkparms=aid%3D555014%26algo%3DPL.DEFAULT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D38661%26meid%3Db625e5e51841482784d3a9ce97dd8f3e%26pid%3D100505%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26

One end plugs in to the laptop hard drive (I dont this works for larger Desktop hard drives which need more power) and the other in to the USB on the computer

The computer then "sees" the drive and all the files on it - if you know where stuff is you can copy it off

the more technical folks on here will tell you any of the stuff to be careful of, HDDs can be delicate things

Apparently there are 2 HDDS :" plugs in to the laptop hard drive " : do they have sockets .
