El Cid 214 #1225 Posted December 4, 2016 You forgot to mention that shares have reached a record high, the England Rugby Union team have equalled their 14 wins on the trot record achievement and the Wales football team made the semi finals in Euro 16, since the referendum result. The FTSE 250(British companies) reached a high, but has since come down, and is now just bubbling along. ---------- Post added 04-12-2016 at 09:19 ---------- Brexit secretary Greg Hands said the UK would consider PAYING for "best possible" single market access; since many people voted leave because of the millions that we paid to the EU, its almost like we are not leaving. Guest #1226 Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) It will be interesting to see election results in Austria today, as well as referendum result in Italy. Its not directly tied to brexit, but certainly is affected with it. Edited December 4, 2016 by Guest
 Share this content via...
Gamston 10 #1227 Posted December 4, 2016 Brexit secretary Greg Hands said the UK would consider PAYING for "best possible" single market access; since many people voted leave because of the millions that we paid to the EU, its almost like we are not leaving. It makes common sense for the UK to consider paying a fee to have access to the single market during BREXIT negotiations. If the fee was £1.50 per week for example, then it be worth paying. apelike 10 #1229 Posted December 4, 2016 Except by leaving and then paying we lose any influence we had, but still have to cough up... The problem with that is we never had any influence to start with. The main problem with the EU is its inflexibility to adapt, and a "one size fits all" approach. LeMaquis 10 #1230 Posted December 4, 2016 The defeated SS candidate for the Austrian presidency, Norbert Hofer, has blamed Farage partly for his defeat; "Anton Mahdalik, a Freedom party member of the Vienna city council, criticised the former Ukip leader, Nigel Farage, for contributing to the party’s defeat after claiming on Fox News that Hofer would hold a referendum on Austria leaving the European Union. “That didn’t help us, it hindered us,” he said, saying that an overwhelming majority of Austrians support EU membership. "Hofer himself described Farage’s comments as a “crass misjudgment”, adding that “it doesn’t fill me with joy when someone meddles from outside”. . Nigel just can't keep his gob shut. El Cid 214 #1232 Posted December 5, 2016 Italian PM resigns following referendum defeat http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-38204189 And did our referendum start all this EU instability? With Trump upsetting China, an organisation that helps to keep the peace is sounding worthwhile.
 Share this content via...
tzijlstra 11 #1233 Posted December 5, 2016 Just to clarify - the Italian referendum is nothing to do with the EU. Renzi was just as silly as Cameron to tie his political future to a referendum outcome in a time of unstable political direction. In contrast the Austrian election has - it was a clear anti-immigration/pro-EU vault line and pro-EU won against expectations. I1L2T3 10 #1235 Posted December 5, 2016 The problem with that is we never had any influence to start with. The main problem with the EU is its inflexibility to adapt, and a "one size fits all" approach. That's not true though is it. One of the biggest proponents of the single market was the UK under the leadership of Thatcher. We sgred with practically all the legislation made by the EU and have a massive role in making that legislation. You're basically just lazily trotting out another EU myth.
