McAFEE Internet Security

Recommended Posts

Hi

Hoping someone can help.

I've bought a copy of this internet security, however when I have come to install it on my HP laptop, it says it cant be done due to a version of Windows 10, even though on the back of the pack it states that its compatible? I have tried to live chat to McAfee but no one is responding.

Thanks

Have you recently updated it to the Creators Edition?

Not that I know. To be honest I haven't used the laptop in about 3 months. I'm giving it to my daughter to use but the security had run out. It does do automatic updates now and then?

Did you have McAfee on it before?

If you did then it may be better to uninstall it and in the meantime use a free antivirus such as Avast. McAfee have online support so you could register and see if there are any updates or patches for your version.

I did yeah. I'll try that.

I tried to live chat them for help but it was taking forever. Will try again tomorrow. Thank you.

I'd claim a refund - you can normally do this within a set time period - I had to do this with a problem with F-Secure. I only recommend Comodo Internet Security Free edition, but if you need a screen reader such as nvda or JAWS then Comodo is not the one to use but Microsoft Security Essentials.

I had McAfee at one time. All was well until I somehow picked up a Trojan or something similar. It took the form of porno sites, adverts for viagra, all stuff designed to embarrass popping up together with an invitation to pay a ransom to get rid of it.

McAfee wanted an extra £60 before they would even take a look. I declined and after a few days the junk went away on its own.

I didn't bother renewing.
