gamezone07 Â Â 23 #1 Posted May 20, 2017 (edited) Just bought some very nice Plaice from fishmongers, it was on ice, had to wait 30 minutes for taxi, but then it was straight in the fridge, 2 hours later I plan to freeze it, there are all sorts of complications about how you do it, whether it is safe online, so, looking for definitive answer, I have a weak immune system but can't waste such nice fish. Â If the fish was on ice it was probably only being kept cold by the ice. Freeze away!
 Share this content via...

Lockdoctor   10 #4 Posted May 20, 2017 I now only ever by frozen fish, which is frozen at sea. It's a lottery buying fish from fishmongers.
 Share this content via...

sedith   19 #6 Posted May 20, 2017 Frozen fish is the freshest fish as it is frozen when caught. I've had success in freezing Yorkshire Fishcakes from the chip shop. The secret is when bought from the chip shop, left to cool naturally, then fast freeze ... always cook from frozen gas mark 5 for 40 minutes. If you defrost them first they will be soggy. They will be as good as when they were bought from the chip shop and eaten there. Yorkshire fishcakes are one of the things I miss living in the south, this way I can enjoy them whenever I feel like.
